Part of GOLF 20/20’s player development effort is a focus on college golf. Because the average age of a new golfer is about 31, colleges and universities provide a fertile environment for reaching future golfers at an earlier age.
Several years ago, with a grant from Pete and Alice Dye, the PGA tested a program at Purdue University called Golf: For Business and Life. It was designed to introduce golf to college juniors and seniors who had never played the game, and it centered on the belief that playing golf can be a significant career asset for business students.
Now, the initiative is a part of the PGA of America’s umbrella player-development effort, Play Golf America, and it has expanded to 35 colleges and universities. In the course, juniors, seniors and graduate students earn college credit while learning the fundamentals of the game and it how to use it to one’s advantage in business and networking. Through its research efforts, 20/20 has compiled a database of college golf facilities that you can easily search for a course or learning center in your area. You can also add your favorite college golf resource to our database, or update the database information if something has changed.
