LEARNING FOR GROWTH

One of GOLF 20/20’s primary responsibilities is to generate, gather and disseminate information about the golf industry and the growth of the game. This section of the 20/20 website will continue to expand as we publish new reports from our own efforts and those of others involved in pertinent golf research.

A very active area for us is in the quantification of economic impact. We have measured the impact of golf on the national economy of the United States in 2002 and in 2007, and will do so every five years; the most recent report is accessible here. Additionally, working with our research partner, SRI International, we developed a process through which any state can obtain an economic impact report affordably and accurately.

Virginia led the way in 2006, the first state to utilize the new template. In 2007, we were commissioned to do reports for Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Texas and California. In 2008, we released reports for California, Hawaii, Massachusetts and Texas.

In 2009, we are currently working on reports for Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, New York, which have now been completed.  A report for the state of Washington is expected to be complete by spring of 2010.
