Golfing for the Future of HBCU Students

Historically Black Colleges and Universities Career Development Marketplace (HBCU CDM) will be host its second annual golf tournament fundraiser of Friday, June 8. The HBCU CDM Golf Classic will take place at the RedGate Golf Course in Rockville, Maryland.

HBCU Career Development Marketplace is a nonprofit organization founded in 2001 by Tariq Shane that works to bridge the gap between college and the corporate workplace for students attending HBCUs. HBCU CDM assists students in many ways, but the Marketplace event has been the most impactful. Every November, HBCU CDM invites professional organizations from across the country to meet with the students selected to attend the national conference. Last November’s CDM hosted 75 exhibitors and more than 300 students from 22 HBCUs. Students interviewed for positions at the event, and some landed internship and jobs before graduation.

All proceeds from the golf tournament, will help fund travel costs and expenses for all the students who will journey to the Marketplace in November. The event will also feature a silent auction and a chance to win a two-night stay at the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. The getaway at Pinehurst Resort includes a round of golf for a foursome.

Sponsorships and tickets to the golfing event are available online at Ticket pricing starts at $199.
